About Me
Eric Hanson
A Book of Ages began as a birthday gift to a writer friend of mine, an anecdote I tell in the Preface. The back cover describes it as "An Eccentric Miscellany of Achievements, Misdeeds, Crossed Paths, Bypaths, Inventions, Scandals, Child Prodigies, Late Masterpieces, Marriages and Breakups, Fueds, Dead Ends, Second Chances, Adventures and Misadventures, Novels Written and Battles Won and Lost, All Organized by Year of Age." The Year of Age bit is key. We are all curious about how our lives measure up. Consider this a helpful, amusing, often surprising, scorecard. A useful volume for composing birthday toasts, but also a guidebook about life's vagaries, a book for frequent browsing. A BOOK OF AGES was published in Fall of 2008 by Harmony/Random House. A four page selection was featured in the October 2008 Atlantic. My fiction and satire have also appeared in McSweeney's, Smithsonian, Hemispheres, Minnesota Monthly, the New York Tyrant, Torpedo and The Lifted Brow. My illustrations have appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Times, Rolling Stone, Harper's and Vanity Fair. The illustrations and text are the property of Eric Hanson, who holds the copyright©.
